Athom has announced the availability of the official ConnectLife app for Homey, developed by the Hisense Group. The integration lets you add compatible appliances from Hisense, Gorenje, ASKO, ATAG and Pelgrim to Homey and automate them alongside the rest of your smart home system.
The update solves a common smart home problem, since large appliances are usually controlled only through their own brand’s app, with no connection to the lights, heating or sensors already installed at home. With ConnectLife on Homey, whatever an appliance reports can be used in Flows just like a motion sensor or a thermostat.
What you can control and automate
Depending on the appliance, Homey can show the current programme stage, the remaining time, the door status and maintenance alerts such as low rinse aid or a full water tank. Supported programmes can be started and stopped through Homey, and split air conditioning units can have their temperature, mode and fan speed adjusted remotely. These states can also trigger Flows.

When the washing machine finishes its cycle or the dishwasher needs salt, Homey can send a push notification or turn on a light as a reminder. If the washing machine detects a leak, Homey can trigger an alarm through a speaker. A Flow can even switch on the air conditioning automatically when a presence sensor detects someone entering a room.
Running appliances during the cheapest hours
Integration with Homey Energy’s Dynamic Electricity Prices adds an extra layer of automation. It is possible to create Flows that start the dishwasher or washing machine automatically when electricity is cheapest, which on a dynamic tariff can be several times lower than the peak night time price. To do this, remote start first needs to be enabled on the appliance itself, which should be left loaded and ready to run.

The ConnectLife app for Homey is available on the Homey App Store and works with Homey Cloud, Homey Pro, Homey Pro mini and Homey Self-Hosted Server. Setting it up requires an existing ConnectLife account with the appliances already registered.
