Lyca Mobile, one of the leading virtual mobile operators worldwide, has announced the expansion of its Lyca Boss plans to physical retail in Portugal.
Launched to great uptake in digital format only in 2025, the Lyca Boss plans are now available for immediate activation in physical stores, with the aim of reaching a more diverse audience.
Lyca Boss plans now come with rollover data
The expansion to physical retail comes alongside a much-anticipated feature for consumers: the introduction of rollover data.
This feature in the Lyca Boss plans allows any unused mobile data from within the 30-day period to carry over automatically to the following month. To take advantage of the remaining data allowance, customers simply need to renew their plan at the end of the cycle.
The physical offering of the Lyca Boss range maintains the flexibility that characterised the digital launch, with three distinct packages available:
- 10GB + 500 minutes/SMS: An option designed for those who make more basic and occasional use of mobile internet and messaging apps;
- 50GB + unlimited minutes and SMS: An alternative aimed at users looking for flexibility, available in both the traditional physical SIM format and as an eSIM;
- 100GB + unlimited minutes and SMS: The plan for customers with the highest mobile data consumption needs.
António Arnaut, Country Manager of Lyca Mobile in Portugal, highlighted that the Lyca Boss plans received an “excellent reception” during their digital phase, helping the brand connect with a younger audience. He considers the move into physical retail a “natural step in our growth and proximity strategy”.
The brand is betting on what it describes as a “phygital” experience — combining the physical and digital worlds — reinforcing its closeness to the Portuguese consumer.
The Lyca Boss plans are now available not only in the operator’s own stores and kiosks, but also at major retailers including Continente, Worten, Note!, El Corte Inglés, Auchan/Box, and Rádio Popular, as well as through the Pagaqui and Payshop networks and various newsagents and stationery shops.
