The arrival of a MacBook with a touchscreen looks increasingly inevitable. Leaker Instant Digital posted on Weibo that “it is 100% confirmed that the new Mac display will be touchscreen”, a statement that adds to a growing body of rumours all pointing in the same direction.

Rumours of a Mac with a touchscreen have been circulating for years, but they have gained traction in recent months, with multiple sources converging on a launch window between late 2026 and early 2027.

The device, which is expected to be called the MacBook Ultra, will also be Apple’s first laptop with an OLED display.

Samsung Display is reportedly preparing 14.3 and 16.3-inch OLED panels for the model, suggesting that Apple may launch two size variants.

An Omdia report published a week ago even suggested a launch as early as July 2026, but that window is considered unlikely by the more reliable sources.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who has been following this topic since August 2025, maintains that the launch will happen in late 2026 or early 2027, and Bloomberg’s most recent position holds that the laptop could debut before the end of the year, but certainly not before then.

If confirmed, the MacBook Ultra will represent the biggest change to Apple’s laptop line in years, combining a touchscreen and OLED technology in a single device for the first time.
