HUAWEI continues to invest heavily in smartwatches — one of the segments where the brand has made its mark and built a solid market share.
At today’s launch event, the Chinese brand unveiled several new products, among them the HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro — a smartwatch focused on sport and health.
We had access to this watch ahead of launch and, after several weeks of use, we are now sharing our verdict.

HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro review — Reinforced health and sport monitoring
Huawei has been one of the most consistent brands in the sports smartwatch segment, with the GT line building a solid reputation for exceptional battery life and activity monitoring features.
With the Watch GT 7 Pro, the Chinese brand did not settle for an incremental update — this is one of the most complete generations in the line, with a clear focus on athletes who need a watch capable of keeping up with demanding activities in any environment.
The Huawei Watch GT 7 Pro combines a premium build — aerospace-grade titanium alloy case, nano-tech ceramic bezel, and sapphire glass display — with advanced features for skiing, cycling, and golf, health monitoring including ECG and Physical Readiness, contactless payments via Curve Pay, and up to 21 days of battery life.

The new EasyCross fluoroelastomer strap — available in lime, green, and black — addresses one of the friction points of previous generations with a more secure and comfortable fastening system for prolonged wear.
The Huawei Watch GT 7 Pro is available for €429.99, with a €50 launch discount via the coupon A70GTPRE available until 18 October, and includes free access to the HUAWEI MultiPass with premium subscriptions worth €199.
Design and build quality
HUAWEI did not make major design changes to the Watch GT 7 Pro compared to the Watch GT 6 Pro, focusing instead on evolving the materials to make this watch more resistant and durable.
As a more sport-oriented series, it strikes a balance between a sporty and casual look — comfortable during physical activity, but wearable throughout the day.
As the brand has accustomed us to, robust build quality with premium materials remains. The case is constructed from aerospace-grade titanium alloy, the bezel from nano-tech ceramic, and the display from sapphire glass — making the entire structure resistant to scratches and drops.

The display — the same size as the previous generation — is still surrounded by a ring with minute markings, itself bordered by a colour band, green in our case.

On the right side are the rotating crown and an action button with electrode, while on the left there is only the speaker and microphone.

The main aesthetic novelty this year is the colour range. The HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro is available in black for a more understated look, or in green and lime for a bolder, more sporty appearance.

On the back sits the biometric sensor for health data collection, and this is also where the magnetic charger connects.
New EasyCross strap
Another significant addition to the Watch GT 7 Pro is the EasyCross strap.
This is not a new concept — we have seen it on other watches before — but it brings a meaningful improvement to this series both in terms of sporting use and everyday comfort.

The strap is made from fluoroelastomer, and once the buckle is fastened, the strap end threads through a channel on the inside rather than sitting in keepers on the outside. This eliminates loose strap ends and improves everyday comfort. Aesthetically, it also looks considerably more refined.

Display
The HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro features a 1.47-inch display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.
Beyond good image quality with strong sharpness and colour reproduction, it can push brightness to very high levels to ensure readability in outdoor environments.
Anyone planning to use this watch for outdoor sports should have no difficulty reading activity data at a glance.

New snow, cycling, and golf features to complement a broad sport catalogue
HUAWEI has consistently invested in developing sport-specific features beyond the standard monitoring available for hundreds of activities.
The headline new feature in the HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro is snow sport monitoring, which now has dedicated functionality.

The watch now has access to maps of over 3,000 ski resorts worldwide — as already available in the golf mode — giving users real-time route detail and making activity monitoring easier.
GPS positioning has also been improved with the new AI-XDR algorithm, enabling significantly more precise location tracking even in urban or covered environments where positioning is typically more affected — ensuring accurate tracking at all times.
For indoor snow sports such as skiing and snowboarding, monitoring continues to work even without GPS — using the G-Turn direction-change sensors instead.

Cycling has also received improvements, with the ability to import routes with climb planning, and the watch can now alert the user whenever a sharp bend is approaching.
Golf has equally been updated in the Pro, with new distance and shot visualisations to make real-time and post-session analysis more useful and complete.
Beyond these sports — which receive the most focused feature development — the HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro is capable of monitoring hundreds of other activities.

Health monitoring with new metrics and mini-workouts
In addition to sport, health and sleep monitoring has also been improved in the HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro.
Beyond more detailed and comprehensive sleep tracking, a new health metric has been introduced called Physical Readiness.

Drawing on the various health and sleep metrics, it now displays the user’s physical capacity and body recovery status as a percentage. This indicator requires 7 consecutive nights of wear before it can show accurate data.
A morning briefing has also been added, summarising the previous day’s health metrics.

Mini-workouts have also been expanded and can be triggered at any time, now covering 30 distinct movements, targeting 10 body areas, with unlockable rewards as exercises are completed.
The standard monitoring features also remain — heart rate, SpO2, ECG, arterial stiffness, and more.

Other features
Beyond sport and health monitoring, the watch includes all the usual smartwatch features: music and camera control, calculator, notes, calendar, maps, torch, alarm, and weather.

Contactless payments with Curve Pay and app store
As introduced in the previous generation, the HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro supports contactless payments directly from the watch.
Rather than using Google Wallet or a HUAWEI proprietary solution, payments are handled through Curve Pay — which requires setting up the service and installing the app on the watch.
An app store is also available, though this remains one of the watch’s biggest weaknesses. The available apps are still poorly adapted to the Western market, with the few that exist depending on third-party services — as is the case with Spotify control.

Huawei Health app
Accompanying the HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro is the Huawei Health app, available for both Android and iOS. On iPhone it can be downloaded directly from the App Store, while on Android it must be installed outside the Play Store (download here), as Huawei remains restricted from the US market and therefore cannot distribute its apps through Google Play.
Once installed, the app is mature and easy to use. It is organised by tabs for easy access to information and presents data in considerable detail.
The first health tab shows all data collected throughout the day — sleep, heart rate, SpO2, and emotional wellbeing.

There is also a health view with regular reports from the various tests this feature analyses, along with activity ring performance and mini-workout tracking.
The exercise tab brings together all running, walking, cycling, and golf activities, as well as recommended exercises and training plans.

In the device settings you can customise the watch connection options — buy new watch faces, choose which apps send notifications to the watch, configure health monitoring settings, transfer music to local storage, or download maps.

A Huawei Health+ subscription is also available, offering a fitness plan, intelligent training, premium sport courses, and nutritional analysis.

Battery life
In terms of battery life, Huawei watches continue to be one of the benchmarks in the market.
The HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro delivers around 10 days of battery life with regular use — constant notifications, continuous biometric monitoring, and regular interaction with the watch’s features.
With minimal use, two and a half weeks can be achieved with ease.

With always-on display active, battery life drops to around 4 days.
With intensive GPS use — for runs or other outdoor sports — battery life reduces to around 10 hours.
Even in those cases there is good news: a full charge takes around one hour, and just 5 minutes on the charger is enough to provide more than a day of use.
Who is the HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro for?
The HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro is aimed at athletes who want a smartwatch capable of keeping up with demanding outdoor activities without compromising on battery life. It is the natural choice for cyclists, skiers, golfers, and trail runners who want detailed and accurate activity data without having to charge the watch every two days.
It is also well suited to those who value continuous health monitoring with metrics such as ECG, SpO2, heart rate variability, and the new Physical Readiness — which aggregates several indicators to give a clear reading of the body’s recovery state. The morning briefing and mini-workouts also make it useful for those who want to build small wellbeing habits into daily life without friction.

For users who rely heavily on third-party apps on their watch or want an app store rich in Western content, the GT 7 Pro is not the best choice. Integration with the Huawei ecosystem is solid but closed, and iPhone users will have a slightly more limited experience than on Android.
At €429.99, with the €50 launch discount via coupon A70GTPRE available until 18 October, it is a competitive proposition for anyone looking for a premium sports smartwatch with exceptional battery life.

Verdict on the HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro
The HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro confirms that Huawei remains one of the most serious references in the sports smartwatch segment. Battery life continues to be its hardest argument to counter: 10 days with regular use, a full charge in around an hour, and just 5 minutes on the charger for more than a day of use — figures no direct competitor can match.
The aerospace titanium, nano-tech ceramic, and sapphire glass construction clearly elevates perceived quality compared to previous generations and justifies the premium positioning. The new EasyCross strap is a genuine improvement that resolves a real comfort and finish issue, and the 3,000-nit peak brightness display ensures excellent readability in any lighting condition.

The new skiing features — with maps of over 3,000 resorts worldwide and support for indoor disciplines — and the cycling improvements with climb planning and sharp-bend alerts show a Huawei increasingly focused on delivering professional-level data for specific sports. Golf remains one of the most complete propositions on the market in this format.
The main weakness continues to be the app ecosystem, still very limited for Western users and reliant on third-party solutions for features that are native on competing platforms. The need to install Huawei Health outside the Play Store on Android is also unnecessary friction that puts off less technical users.

Overall, the HUAWEI Watch GT 7 Pro is one of the most complete sports smartwatches on the market at its price point — especially for those who practise outdoor sports and value real-world battery life above everything else.
The Huawei Watch GT 7 Pro is available for €429.99, with a €50 launch discount via coupon A70GTPRE available until 18 October, and includes free access to the HUAWEI MultiPass with premium subscriptions worth €199.
