Some time ago we had the opportunity to test the Click&Grow Smart Garden 9, which allowed us to grow fruit, vegetables, herbs, and flowers in any room in the house — even without natural light.
If you like that concept but find it too large and not particularly attractive, the Ermonix HydroVase may be a more interesting solution.
Meet the Ermonix HydroVase — a hydroponic planter with integrated grow light that lets you grow flowers without leaving home.
Ermonix HydroVase review — Flowers at home all year round without the need for natural light
Having plants at home is good for your mood, reduces stress, and makes any space feel more alive — but most people give up quickly when plants start to wilt from lack of water or light.
The Ermonix HydroVase aims to remove those barriers with a hydroponic planter with an integrated grow light that automates much of the process, allowing flowers or aromatic plants to be grown in any room without soil, without mess, and without daily care.

The HydroVase combines a semi-transparent 170ml water reservoir, a 5W full-spectrum LED light with an automatic 16-hours-on, 8-hours-off cycle, and an adjustable height arm with magnetic attachment — all compatible with Click & Grow pre-seeded pods.
The price is €69.95 for the HydroVase alone, or €82.90 if you want to include a pack of three Click & Grow petunia pods to get started straight away.
Design and build quality
The HydroVase is an elegant and practical solution for anyone who wants to keep real plants at home without the usual maintenance effort.
This smart planter has a modern, refined aesthetic that fits naturally in any room. At just 36.5cm tall and 8.9cm in diameter, it does not take up much space. And since it has its own light source, it can be placed in any room regardless of whether natural light is available.

It is available in white, black, and faux concrete, and weighs 630 grams.
The base includes a 170ml water reservoir that clips onto the bottom. Inside the pot there is a hollow space to hold Click&Grow pre-seeded pods, which can be purchased separately.

On the back there is a Micro-USB connector — a choice that raises some questions, since in Europe all devices are now expected to come with USB-C for power. That said, since the cable is included in the box, it is unlikely to inconvenience most users.
At the base, two metal rods conduct electricity to the magnetically attached LED light, with the arm height adjustable as the plant grows.
Although electricity runs through the rods, there is no danger to the user from direct contact.
This is a planter that fits comfortably anywhere in the home — a genuinely decorative element that works equally well in a living room, kitchen, office, or any room you want to bring a little colour and greenery to.

HydroVase assembly
Assembly is very straightforward. The HydroVase arrives almost ready to use — the only step needed is attaching the metal rods that support the light, using the small key included in the box to tighten them at the base.
Once tightened, place the LED light onto the rods and check that both the red and warm-white lights are active. The tightening points are quite sensitive and it is easy to end up with a slightly poor contact, leaving only one of the lights working.
Then simply add water, insert the seed pod into its dedicated slot, and it is ready to germinate.

LED that simulates natural light
As we previously tested on the Click&Grow Smart Garden 9, this device includes LED lighting — 5W — combining warm white and red light to simulate natural sunlight and support plant growth.

This lighting solution allows plants to grow even in completely dark environments, making it possible to grow plants and seeds in rooms with no windows whatsoever.
The light works in cycles — on for 16 hours, off for 8 hours — simulating day and night.

Since the light is fairly bright, it is worth thinking about when you want it on. Having it lit during the day makes sense for minimising the impact, but you might equally want to take advantage of it as ambient lighting in the room during the evening.
Programming the light cycle is simple — unplug from the socket, wait a few seconds, and plug back in. From that point, the cycle starts: 16 hours on, then 8 hours off.
Compact water reservoir
The water reservoir clips onto the bottom and holds just 170ml.
Given the size of the planter, a small reservoir is to be expected — it lasts around 2 to 3 days, slightly longer in the early days of a plant’s growth.
It would not hurt to have a little more capacity, though.
How the HydroVase works and what plant growth looks like
Using the HydroVase is very simple, making it accessible to anyone who wants vibrant, colourful plants and flowers for decoration.
Once assembled, it is time to place one of the pods inside so it can begin to germinate.

The HydroVase can be ordered with a set of 3 petunia pods, though there is a wide range of plants to choose from. Options range from decorative flowers to more culinary choices such as aromatic herbs or cherry tomatoes.
This compact growing station is compatible with all Click&Grow pods, which can be found on their website.

The pods come with seeds ready to germinate and a portion of growing medium containing all the nutrients needed for each stage of development.
Once everything is set up, it is simply a matter of waiting for germination to begin. The time varies depending on what is being grown.
From there, adding water every 2 to 3 days is all that is needed for the flowers or plants to grow on their own.
After a few weeks, a tiny seed has grown into a plant with flowers or fruit — without ever needing ambient light to develop.
There is, however, a regular ongoing cost to keep the HydroVase running. The pods come pre-loaded with the nutrients needed for the full growth cycle, but they do need to be replenished. Empty pods filled with growing medium are available for those who want to use their own seeds.
You can also fill a pod with regular soil, though germination is less straightforward this way. Correct fertilisation is important for growth in this controlled environment, which may take some trial and error at first.

Seed variety
The Ermonix HydroVase is compatible with the full Click&Grow seed catalogue, offering a wide variety of plants and fruit that can be grown in this smart planter.
The only downside is that the pods are not the cheapest option — though they do come with a strong track record for successful germination, which is harder to guarantee with a DIY approach.
Who is the Ermonix HydroVase for?
The HydroVase is for anyone who wants to keep plants or flowers at home without the usual maintenance headaches. It is the natural choice for those who have killed plants before through lack of watering or light and want a solution that manages those factors autonomously.
It is also well suited to those living in apartments without a balcony or with little natural light, since the integrated LED lighting allows plants to grow in any room — including windowless spaces. Offices, bedrooms, bathrooms, and hallways are no longer off-limits for a plant.

For those who enjoy cooking, compatibility with Click & Grow herb pods makes it equally useful in the kitchen as a source of fresh ingredients. For those focused on decoration, flowers such as petunias and other options in the Click & Grow catalogue turn the HydroVase into a lively, colourful decorative element.
It is not the best choice for anyone wanting to grow larger plants or multiple plants at once, given the compact 170ml reservoir and space for a single pod at a time. For an indoor garden with multiple plants, the Click & Grow Smart Garden 9 is a more suitable alternative.
Verdict on the Ermonix HydroVase
The Ermonix HydroVase is a genuinely well-thought-out product for anyone who wants to take a step forward in growing plants at home without complexity.
The combination of hydroponics, full-spectrum LED lighting, and compatibility with Click & Grow pre-seeded pods produces a solution that genuinely works and that anyone can use from day one.

The design is elegant and understated, fitting naturally into any room, and the ability to use it in spaces with no natural light is a real advantage that many similar products do not offer.
Watching a plant grow and flower in a space where having any vegetation would normally be impossible is genuinely satisfying.

The less positive points are the 170ml water reservoir — which requires refilling every two to three days — and the Micro-USB connector instead of USB-C, an anachronistic choice for a product launched in 2026. The metal rod tightening points are also quite sensitive, making it easy to end up with a poor contact and only one of the lights working during assembly.
At €69.95 for the planter alone or €82.90 with the three petunia pods included, the HydroVase is a reasonable proposition for anyone who wants a decorative and functional solution that requires minimal intervention after initial setup.
