OPPO Enco Clip2 Review – The balance between comfort and premium sound

OPPO recently launched the new OPPO Enco Clip2, the latest version of their Open Earbuds.

This new generation delivers a refined design and improved comfort, while standing out with sound tuned by Dynaudio.

OPPO Enco Clip2 Review — New Open Earbuds with improved ergonomics and sound

The OPPO Enco Clip2 are the brand’s new open-ear earbuds, positioned as a premium option in the clip segment. The single-piece design, inspired by water droplets with an NCVM finish, sets them apart visually from the competition and is available in Graphite Grey and Gold.

The most relevant differentiator is comfort. The nitinol alloy memory-shape arc, the redesigned Acoustic Sphere, and a study based on over 3,500 ear morphologies resulted in a TÜV Rheinland comfortable fit certification — something rarely seen in this product category.

On the sound front, OPPO partnered with Dynaudio for audio tuning, complemented by dual dynamic drivers, dual DACs, and LHDC 5.0 support for high-resolution audio. The 6nm quad-core processor also handles features such as bone conduction for clear calls in noisy environments, real-time translation in 24 languages, and simultaneous dual-device connection.

Battery life reaches 40 hours in AAC mode with the included charging case, and the IP55 rating ensures resistance to rain and sweat for daily and sports use. Bluetooth connectivity uses version 6.1.

As for the price, the OPPO Enco Clip2 are already available for €159.99.

Design and build quality

The OPPO Enco Clip2 are positioned as a premium and elegant option for those looking for open earbuds for everyday use or sports activities.

The case is built from rigid plastic with an oval shape, featuring the brand’s logo on the front alongside a small status LED.

On the back, you will find a reference to the co-creation with Dynaudio, responsible for the sound tuning.

At the bottom sits the USB-C charging connector and a pairing button.

Opening the case reveals the OPPO Enco Clip2 sitting side by side.

Each earbud consists of a spherical section that sits in the ear and a bean-shaped part that rests on the opposite side of the ear, integrating the touch button for control.

As is typical with this type of earbud, they have a U-shape to clip onto the ear and resemble an earring.

The arc is built from an ultra-thin nitinol alloy, which helps achieve a better fit, further enhanced by its shape memory properties.

This type of earbud thus becomes more than a simple listening device, doubling as a fashion accessory.

Comfort and ergonomics

While not the biggest fan of the look of these earbuds — since they need to sit well on the ear to appear elegant — they are without doubt one of the most comfortable models to wear.

Simply take them out of the case, clip them onto the ear, and the fit is more than secure enough for all types of scenarios, including sports, without any fear of losing them.

Since they do not go inside the ear canal, they are also very comfortable to wear for many hours, making them ideal for long working sessions.

Setup and Hey Melody App

Connecting to a smartphone is very straightforward. Simply open the case, search for Bluetooth devices on your phone, and tap connect.

To customise the experience with the OPPO Enco Clip2, the brand offers the Hey Melody app.

Once the OPPO Enco Clip2 are integrated, a range of options becomes available. To start, you can view the battery level of each earbud, though there is no information about the case battery.

Just below, you can manage dual-device connection settings and see which devices are currently connected.

Further down is OPPO Alive Audio, a grand name for spatial audio that can only be activated in fixed mode — meaning the audio is projected around you in 360°, but only with the fixed position option.

Below that is the equaliser with 4 preset tuning options (Ultimate, Vibrant, Pure Vocals, and Dynaudio Highlight) to find the sound profile that suits you best. Unfortunately, manual tuning is not available. According to OPPO, the Dynaudio tuning aims to reproduce the authentic music created by the artist.

There is also a high-definition audio option, though it requires disabling spatial audio to use, and a game mode to reduce latency.

The app also includes Spotify Tap for full integration with the music streaming platform, and an alert feature in case an earbud falls out.

Finally, there is a sound space section loaded with white noise sounds.

There is also a tab for customising and controlling the touch gestures on the earbuds, with the click performed on the U-shaped arc.

Sound and call quality

In terms of sound, the OPPO Enco Clip2 deliver above-average quality. The bass, while not overly expressive, is well defined, and the mids and highs are well balanced.

Pushing the volume to maximum introduces some distortion, making the sound quite harsh. However, up to around 80% volume, quality remains solid.

The app offers a few preset equaliser options, though the differences are not particularly noticeable. A custom equaliser for manual tuning is clearly missing.

In terms of isolation, there is no active noise cancellation — only the minimal passive isolation provided by how the OPPO Enco Clip2 sit in the ear.

For calls, sound pickup is very good, handled via AI-optimised bone conduction.

The touch controls are also easy to use and very responsive.

Battery life

The OPPO Enco Clip2 promise 40 hours in AAC mode and 36 hours in LHDC mode, both figures including the charging case.

For the earbuds alone, the brand estimates between 8 and 9.5 hours.

Using LHDC mode — high resolution — we achieved a usage time that slightly exceeded 7 hours.

Verdict on the OPPO Enco Clip2

The OPPO Enco Clip2 are OPPO’s new bet in the Open Earbuds segment, which is now becoming a real success.

With a quick and simple fit, they deliver good comfort during several hours of use.

In terms of sound, while there is no customisable equaliser, the audio is well tuned and offers balanced mids and highs with solid bass presence.

Battery life is sufficient for a full 8-hour working day, which is more than enough for the vast majority of users.

As for the price, the OPPO Enco Clip2 are available for €159.99.
