July was another busy month in the techbit, with sixteen products tested across categories ranging from portable power to garden robotics, along with smartphones, TVs and home security. This is the second edition of our monthly column, where we bring together every review published in the previous month.
This month also brought two standout devices straight from Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked, plus a robot lawn mower that promises to finally put an end to weekends spent tending the garden. As always, everything here comes from real testing, done at home over weeks of use.
Smartphones
Ahead of a full review, we spent a few days with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, the brand’s thinnest foldable yet at just 4.1mm when open, with a triple camera setup now boosted by a 50MP ultra-wide. Battery life impresses and the slimmer build doesn’t come at the cost of sturdiness, though the price jumped considerably this year, with the entry model starting at €2269.90.
Smartwatch
Also in first-impressions mode, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2 arrived on our wrist with a body 12% thinner than the previous model, a display capable of hitting 5000 nits and IP69K certification for water sports. It remains a watch built for larger wrists and for people who exercise regularly, with battery life that comfortably covers around two days even with every sensor running.
TVs
On the screen side, the Samsung The Frame Pro LS03H confirmed itself as one of the most convincing options for anyone who wants their TV to double as a decorative piece when switched off. The anti-glare Neo QLED panel impresses and Art Mode runs without any intervention once set up, though the side viewing angles and the lack of European Portuguese support for the Vision AI Companion fall short of the rest of the experience, earning it 8.9 points.
Audio
In open-ear earbuds, the Sony LinkBuds Clip surprised us with a level of bass rarely seen in this format, staying comfortable all day long with battery life that easily lasts a full week of moderate use, earning them 8.9 points.
Portable power
It was a strong month for power solutions. The BLUETTI 200W solar panel proved to be an efficient way to charge portable batteries like the Elite 100 V2 straight from the sun, reaching 170W of real charging power, with only the support legs losing some stability in windy conditions, scoring 8.6 points.
The ALLPOWERS R1500 LITE struck a good balance between capacity, power and price, with a 15-millisecond UPS function and four Schuko outlets for home or camping use, finishing at 8.8 points, even though the app still isn’t available in Portuguese.
Smart home and security
We continued exploring the Reolink ecosystem, this time with the Reolink HomeHub, which centralises up to eight cameras with encrypted local storage and no subscription fees, reaching 8.6 points, and the Reolink Argus 3 Ultra, a 4K solar camera that became essentially self-sufficient after installation, with our only reservation being Wi-Fi range in well-insulated homes, earning it 8.8 points.
For ambient lighting, the Govee Floor Lamp 2 brought 82 scene modes and music sync, though its 180-degree light spread limits placement to against a wall, closing at 8.2 points.
Mobility
In urban mobility, the Segway Ninebot F3 Pro E stood out for its wide deck and dual suspension that absorbs Portuguese city pavement well, with a TFT display and built-in navigation, though the roughly eight-hour charging time is the biggest drawback of this 8.6-point scooter.
Garden
One of the highlights of the month was the ANTHBOT Genie 800, a fully wireless robot lawn mower that skips perimeter cables thanks to RTK navigation and four AI cameras. Cutting is precise and setup is simple, with the exception of the smart scheduling system, which didn’t work as promised, earning it 8.7 points.
Coffee and kitchen
For anyone who likes freshly ground coffee, the INCAPTO Aura delivers an espresso in 40 seconds with a built-in grinder and 19-bar extraction pressure, with our only note going to the slightly small coffee grounds container, finishing at 8.6 points.
Everyday gadgets
Several small gadgets also passed through our hands this month. The Xiaomi Cordless Pressure Washer surprised us with its cleaning power despite the cordless format, reaching 9.0 points, while the Xiaomi Mijia cordless screwdriver paired an award-winning design with solid tightening force for household tasks, earning 8.8 points.
The FLEXTAIL Tiny Repeller S visibly cut down mosquito presence in our outdoor testing, adding an emergency flashlight function on top, with 8.4 points. Finally, the WUBEN G5 was the biggest surprise of the month in this category, an EDC flashlight the size of an AA battery capable of projecting 400 lumens and a beam that comes close to its claimed 82 metres, taking July’s highest score, 9.2.
